रानी उर्वशी अपनी ही कोख से जन्मी बेटी धरा के प्रेमी गगन के प्यार में पागल सी होकर गगन का प्यार पाने के लिए गगन को अपना बनाने के लिए शाम, दाम, दण्ड, भेद, झूठ, फरेब, छल, कपट, प्रपंच, त्रिया चरित्र का हर हथकंडा अपनाया। गगन के प्यार में पागल रानी उर्वशी ने गगन को जंजीरों से जकड़ा। उस पर कोड़े बरसाए। बर्फ की सिलियों पर लिटाया और कठोर से कठोर यातनाएँ दीं। लेकिन गगन धरा का प्यार ऐसा नहीं था, जो किसी भी आंधी-तूफान से डर जाए। गगन-धरा का प्यार सिर्फ प्यार ही नहीं था, दो जिस्म एक जान थे। गगन को दी जाने वाली यातनाएँ धरा को महसूस होतीं, दर्द धरा को होता, लेकिन गगन-धरा का प्यार रानी उर्वशी के सामने न झुका, न टूटा। रानी उर्वशी ने मन में ठान लिया कि अगर गगन मेरा नहीं हो सका तो मैं अपने जीते-जी गगन को कभी भी धरा का नहीं होने दूंगी। अंततः रानी उर्वशी ने गगन-धरा के साथ क्रूरता का ऐसा खेल खेला, जिसे देखकर लोगों का कलेजा थर्रा उठा। लोग थर-थर कांपने लगे। लोग कहने लगे, "ऐसी भी कोई माँ होती है क्या...?" गगन-धरा के अटूट प्यार में जीने-मरने, पुनः पुनर्जन्म लेने की अद्भुत, अविश्वसनीय, अकल्पनीय, अविश्मरणीय, दिल को दहला देने वाली आश्चर्यजनक लोम हर्षक "निवारण एक प्रेम कथा"।
