About this eBook

Edda McElfresh, a gifted writer with caramel skin, dark brown hair always styled in a ponytail, and glasses, faces a daunting battle with severe depression after learning her hip is dislocated again. Feeling trapped in her body and overwhelmed by the need for more surgeries, Edda lashes out at her loving parents, Cleveland and Eureka, and her younger brother, Edison. Despite her active faith and church involvement, she feels disconnected and lost.

At church, Edda meets Lyric Beam, a 19-year-old writer from Blue Ridge Georgia with a milder form of cerebral palsy, who uses crutches to get around. With sandy brown hair in a buzz cut and hazel eyes that shift from blue to green, Lyric's positive attitude about life is infectious. Living with his mother Morgan and stepfather Hawk Frederick, Lyric and Edda bond over their shared faith and passion for writing.

As their friendship blossoms, Edda and Lyric share their first kiss in Lyric’s wheelchair van after a date spent writing under the stars. Lyric's strong faith and acceptance of his condition inspire Edda, and they confess their love for each other, supporting each other through their physical and emotional challenges.

Together, they read Bible scriptures and Edda begins to understand that her cerebral palsy is part of her story and testimony. She starts to see her struggles as a way to glorify God and share her faith. Lyric gives Edda a promise ring with their birthstones, symbolizing their commitment and shared journey in faith.

Edda undergoes necessary surgeries for her hip and arm, with Lyric by her side, offering encouragement and love. She begins to regain hope and strength, both physically and emotionally. Edda realizes that God never fails her and that He brings people into her life to share her journey.

Lyric gives Edda his first typewriter, symbolizing her determination to never give up on her writing dreams. This gesture reinforces their bond and Edda’s resolve to keep writing. Edda writes a blog post about rewriting her story and how God never fails, using Bible verses to emphasize how God shapes our stories in His way.

The story concludes with Edda finding peace and purpose in her journey, inspired by her faith and Lyric’s support. *Rewriting Her Story* emphasizes that even in the darkest times, God is rewriting our stories with us, encouraging readers to never be ashamed of their battles and to find strength in faith and love.
