In this era of meme stocks and Dogecoin, it is hard to defend the view that financial markets are highly efficient. The good news, however, is that the anomalies have gotten funnier.

About the author

Richard Thaler received the 2017 Nobel Prize in economic sciences. He is a distinguished service professor of behavioral science and economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is the New York Times bestselling coauthor of Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness (with Cass R. Sunstein) and the author of Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics.

Alex O. Imas is a chaired professor of behavioral science, economics, and applied AI at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is the recipient of multiple honors, including a Sloan Research Fellowship and the Hillel Einhorn New Investigator Award from the Society for Judgment and Decision Making.
