About the author
Robert Sheckley, 1928 in New York geboren, studierte Englisch und Philosophie an der New York University. Bereits während des Studiums begann er erste Kurzgeschichten zu veröffentlichen, und in kürzester Zeit machte er sich einen Namen als einer der intelligentesten und humorvollsten Science-Fiction-Autoren. Parallel zu seiner Schreibtätigkeit arbeitete er als Literaturredakteur und hatte Gastdozenturen an verschiedenen Universitäten. Sheckley starb im Dezember 2005.
