In den letzten Jahren hat der Philosoph Volker Gerhardt in zahlreichen Publikationen, insbesondere in seiner Monografie "Der Sinn des Sinns" (München 2014), das Verhältnis von Glauben und Wissen behandelt. Im Zentrum dabei steht deren wechselseitige Interdependenz und somit die rationale Verantwortbarkeit von Religion. Für die Theologische Fakultät der Universität Leipzig waren Gerhardts religionstheoretische Arbeiten Anlass dafür, dem philosophischen Gesprächspartner im Dezember 2017 die theologische Ehrendoktorwürde zu verleihen. Der im Nachgang zum Festakt konzipierte Band dokumentiert das Gespräch zwischen dem philosophischen Denker des Göttlichen und Vertretern verschiedener evangelisch-theologischer Fachgebiete. Mit Beiträgen von Roderich Barth, Ingolf U. Dalferth, Marco Frenschkowski, Volker Gerhardt, Rochus Leonhardt, Christoph Markschies, Georg Neugebauer und Gert Pickel sowie einem Vorwort von Rektorin Beate Schücking [Reason of Faith] In recent years, the philosopher Volker Gerhardt has dealt with the relationship between faith and knowledge in numerous publications and has also raised the question of the rational responsibility of the Divine. His book "Der Sinn des Sinns" (Munich 2014) is of importance in this context. For the Faculty of Theology at the University of Leipzig, Gerhardt's studies of religious theory were the reason for awarding the honorary doctorate in theology in December 2017. The volume brings together a series of contributions documenting the discussion between the reasonable thinker of the Divine and representatives of various Protestant theological fields.
