About the author

 Ronald Daus is Professor for Romance Languages, Literatures, and Cultures and Director of the Institute of Romance Philology at the Free University of Berlin, West Germany. He is a member of the Research Group Neue Romania which is studying the relations between European peoples and extra-European cultures. He is currently doing an analysis of literary works on the great cities of Asia, Latin America, and Africa
