About the author

Rosario Castellanos (Ciudad de México, 1925 - Tel Aviv, 1974). Fue una destacada escritora de poesía y novela, profesora y promotora cultural. Estudió una maestría en Filosofía en la UNAM, y en la Universidad de Madrid. Sus obras publicadas son Ciudad Real, Balún Canán, Álbum de familia, Rito de iniciación, entre otras. Recibió el Premio Xavier Villaurrutia, el Premio Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, el Premio Carlos Trouyet de Letras y el Premio Elías Sourasky de Letras.
