About this ebook

'I was hooked from the start on this emotionally intelligent read' Daily Mail

Isn't it about time we talked about YOU?

Sandra has a naughty secret.
Harriet has been ditched with her ailing mother-in-law one time too many.
Tessa is desperate for distraction after her youngest flies the nest for uni.

With the big 5-0 around the corner, isn't it about time they put themselves first?

After Tessa responds to a late night Facebook message from an old flame, she finds herself impulsively waiting at the airport for a plane from New York. Will it reunite her with The One That Got Away, or land her in a heap of trouble?

And is this the long-awaited moment Tessa and her friends grab their lives back and start living exactly as they choose?

A sharp, irreverent and very funny novel for grown-ups. Perfect for fans of Allison Pearson, Dawn French and Sophie Kinsella.

I was so excited by the preamble for this book and I had very high hopes for it - a book all about me and my age group!!! Did it live up to my very high expectations? Erm, no, quite frankly. I found it to be neither funny nor irreverent. It wasn't a particularly nice read, to be honest. Four of the six main characters were self-obessed, vain, snobby grumblers and I could not feel any empathy or connection to Sandra, Nigel, Tessa or Matt. They spent the whole book being dissatisfied with their privileged, secure, well-heeled lifestyles of designer homes and high-performance cars. They just weren't characters I could warm to. Only Harriet and her husband Sam were the kind of people I could connect with as their circumstances were very real. The stress and helplessness they went though is something we all feel when caring for elderly parents and this was actually rather well handled by the author. If only the book had been just about Harriet and Sam!
