Wow! This is my first Sarah Sundin novel & now I can’t wait to read her other books. This book blew me away with the beautiful prose, engaging story, endearing characters, edge of your seat suspense, & heartfelt romance. I also loved the messages of reconciliation, faith, forgiveness, & second chances. Set in Denmark during WWII, the story begins with the Nazi occupation and how one brave, reformed playboy baron & a female physicist work to save the most vulnerable, & sabotage Germany’s efforts.

Insightful, remarkably written with authentic details and richly developed characters, this is one of my favorite historical fiction books ever. With an intriguing plot that was also thought-provoking, this was fast-paced and brilliantly written with realistic characters and a compelling story. Crackling with tension at times, it made me feel happy, sad and outraged, sometimes within the same chapter. The entire book includes a deep character study and an eye-opening look at the price of war.
