Coyotes

The main character has and interesting arc but the flow of story is too fast paced; seems rushed and you don't get the feel of things. The characters are mostly 2D in their personalities. Relationships lack definition & authenticity - maybe cause due to the 1-2 pages restriction on these minor characters; they're dropped like flies. No time to get attached to anyone in this book. But The black mentor lady is my favourite character here because her swearing is kind of entertaining. She's not vulgar, just has a little potty-mouth like an school-aged kid who is deprived of love and in need of discipline. She doesn't discriminate - she'll curse around and to anyone, any age (including children); it's not just to insult or abuse, but also as a term of endearment/admiration/respect. Not much depth can be given in just one chapter, but it's more than enough time to build intrigue and give us reason to follow a series or not.
