About this ebook

War Is a Racket is a speech and a 1935 short book, by Smedley D. Butler, a retired United States Marine Corps Major General and two-time Medal of Honor recipient. Based on his career military experience, Butler frankly discusses how business interests commercially benefit (including war profiteering) from warfare. He had been appointed commanding officer of the Gendarmerie during the United States occupation of Haiti, which lasted from 1915 to 1934.

I always knew that war was good for the economy, but after reading this book. I have a new understanding of who really gets paid for war and who pays the piper at the end. For me, being a combat veteran and who is disabled because of Iraqi Freedom. I feel that all of this cooperation owes us Veterans' reparations for their war that they wanted

Very interesting, with all the returns that companies make within the 4 years of war. Yes war is a horrible thing, but either side they believe that they are right. If anything there should be negotiations or a truce along with compensation for both parties.
