As long as our mind is indignant from sin, we cannot hope for forgiveness until then, for we have not yet created fruits worthy of repentance. The fruit of repentance is the passionlessness of the soul, and passionlessness is the cleansing of sins.

So, I implore: let us labor in spiritual ascetic labors, let us enslave the body to labors and ascetic labors of the spirit, so that with much diligence and effort, having gathered for ourselves in a way that is good and profitable, we will pass to an endless life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Warn the outcome of the soul by repentance and correction, so that when death comes, all the medicine of repentance will no longer be powerless, because only on earth does repentance have power, but in hell it is already powerless.

... always remember that you bear the title of a servant of God on yourself, and in every possible way, as far as possible by human strength, try to act worthy of this title in everything. God , the Gracious Helper of all, seeing your efforts, will help you, and what seemed to you painful, you will feel easy with the help of God and gaining a habit.

Let us take the earth as an example: when it is not plowed, then it seems empty; it seems that it dies with its fruits: however, it does not lose its own juice, like a certain soul. When it is again processed and seeds are sown on it, it becomes more fruitful. So, it is not surprising that our flesh, as said, is exhausted. For this exhaustion is all the more a taming, and not annihilation.

So, we have seen that we should bring repentance and bring it at the time when the flame of sin ceases to burn in us; We have seen that during the captivity of sin we must be most reverent, and not stealers. For when it is said to Moses, who wishes to draw nearer, to draw nearer to the knowledge of the heavenly mystery, when, I say, to Moses: Take off your sandals off your feet, then all the more must we free the feet of our soul from the bonds of the body and free our groans from union with the world.

It is impossible for men to see God, upon Whom the orders of Angels dare not gaze. But through thee, O all-pure one, did the Word incarnate appear to men, and with the Heavenly Hosts we magnify Him, and thee we call blessed.

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me.
