I came across this Google ebook in the footnotes of a locally published history while researching my family history. I knew Stephen Kimber to be an accomplished journalist and writer, and the Loyalist story was one I wanted to know more about. The book greatly exceeded my expectations -- is meticulously researched and convinces the reader of its veracity. But, more importantly, it is readable and interesting and puts flesh on the bones of the still-existing and charming ghost town of Shelburne, and puts life in the story of the "Loyalists" -- who were desperate refugees more than anything else.
