A treasure hunt, murder mystery, bootleggers, & family secrets make this 1920’s Christian romance a fun page turner! Stephenia McGee knows how to create that delightful romantic tension and this book was oozing with it. I loved the instant chemistry between the spunky Captain Camilla Lockhart and the resolute attorney Daniel Gray. The mystery was filled with twists and turns that kept me turning the pages. Definitely an exciting, must read for Christian historical romance fans!

Camilla Lockhart, a lady steamboat captain, was something very unexpected in those days. However, having grown up on the boat and then studying for her license, she was ready to be hired for most trips - just no more cattle moving. That had been a smelly mess! Daniel Gray is looking for the treasure that family lore says is somewhere on the river. Details seem to be sketchy and yet there seems to be others that are searching as well. Or is this really just a family tale?

McGee knows how to write adventure, romance, mystery and secrets that leave a person guessing to the end. The characters are full of life and challenge each other in their faith. I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
