About the author

Rushton started writing verse in 2004, performing on radio (Resonance FM) and in London’s East End. From 2015 to 2017 he co-ordinated poetryartexchange (Romania/UK), an international collaborative project involving exhibitions, gigs and an online book of the same name, published by Contemporary Literature Press, the online publishing house of the University of Bucharest. His poetry and art are part of another international project, Mosty: Bridges (Warsaw 2017). He received an Arts Council England grant in 2018 for Constanta Project, a poetry and art collaboration based in Romania involving conferences, exhibitions, gigs (with his band Ovid with Reverb) and a free online book NOTES (on comparing English Translations by Christopher Marlowe and John Dryden from Ovid’s Amores 1.1, 1.4 & 2.19), a mixture of poetry, art and research edited by Lidia Vianu, published by Contemporary Literature Press and available (revised 2023) at academia.edu, Google Play and Google Books. Various Wanted, an international collaborative work with MARGENTO and Taner Murat that continues the Ovid theme, was published by Timpul in 2021. He has four publications with erbacce-press (Burning a Paper Plate…of 2015, towards a new art of the same year, lines written…while considering Ovid in translation from 2019 and Preface Metamorphoses of 2022). Rushton collaborates with Anna Maria Mickiewicz and Literary Waves Publishing, editing books in English. He also co-runs an biannual international poetry event, entitled VENT, which is part of Ventnor Fringe Festival. His band Ovid with Reverb perform original material and interpretations of classic texts both locally and nationally in the U.K. He is also a practicing artist and drummer.
