For many centuries, the only place diamonds were found was India, and early in the
eighteenth century, Diamond also began to be mined in Brazil, in the second half of the
nineteenth century they began to be mined in South Africa, which become the chief
world source of diamond.
Since the beginning of the twentieth center diamonds have also been found in Tanzania,
Zaire, Angola, Venezuela, etc.
The world’s largest gem quality diamond, the Cullinan, was found in south Africa in
1905, uncut, it wait 3025 carats.
The centenary, found in 1986, was polished from 599 carats gem, the rough diamond was
cut in various stones.
The purpose of this book is to uncover some of these mysteries and to inform the reader
about the main characteristics of diamond, their chemical and physical properties, the 4Cs
grading (carat, color, clarity and cut), fancy and few famous diamonds.
