The only surviving member of his clan, Wahb the grizzly cub grows up alone in the Wyoming mountains, harboring anger and hatred for humans and other creatures that harmed him. As he develops into a full-grown grizzly, he becomes an unstoppable force whose former foes seem tiny in comparison. Wahb lives in peace with the other animals as well as the human visitors to Yellowstone National Park—until his dominance is challenged by another grizzly.

Ernest Thompson Seton (1860–1946) was a British author, wildlife artist, founder of the Woodcraft Indians, and one of the founding pioneers of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).
