Hoping to find a replacement for his now-retired horse, Duke, Clint Adams heads to Minnesota, where an old friend has promised him just the animal he needs. It turns out that his friend was strung up by a lynch mob out to avenge a young girl's murder—at least that's the way it's meant to look.
