After two years of active duty, Jason is staying with his older brother Victor while battling PTSD and figuring out his next move. When Victor’s girlfriend’s sister, Rachel, comes to visit, the African American beauty is a distraction he didn’t expect and an attraction he can’t ignore. Despite his own issues, he begins to sense Rachel is struggling with something, but getting her to accept his help proves to be a challenge. Luckily, Jason has plenty of experience with difficult missions.

When her band stops in Boston, Rachel is thrilled to spend a few days with her sister, but it’s a handsome, white ex-Marine who captures her attention. Jason’s quiet intensity calls to her, and she wants to help him overcome the nightmares of his past. When Jason asks Rachel’s band to participate in a fundraiser for homeless vets, she’s happy to help. But as her work dries up and she learns some devastating news, Rachel’s future suddenly looks uncertain.
