Beautiful classical music and simple sound effects help tell the well-known story of “The Velveteen Rabbit.” This favorite children’s classic tale is about a young boy that receives a stuffed, velveteen rabbit as a Christmas present. The Boy loves the rabbit, but after unwrapping the other presents, forgets about the Rabbit completely. The old, wise Skin Horse comforts the Rabbit by telling him not to worry, because the fancier toys will never become “Real.” The Skin Horse explains that “Real,” only happens when a child loves something for a very long, long time. One night, the Boy’s Nanny reaches into the toy cupboard and finds the Rabbit. She gives the Boy the Velveteen Rabbit to sleep with. That night, and for many nights after, the Velveteen Rabbit slept in the Boy’s bed. The Boy talked to the Velveteen Rabbit and they played games together. Find out what happens when the Boy becomes very ill and the doctor suggests that the Rabbit be thrown into the trash to be burned the next day. Will the Velveteen Rabbit ever become “Real?”A positive ending adds interest to this adorable story and encourages a lifelong love for reading.

Airing on the Evergreen Podcast Network or wherever podcasts are available, Storytime Anytime® was recently selected to receive a Silver Davey Award. The Davey Awards is an international award focused exclusively on honoring outstanding creative work from the best small shops from across the world. Kim has been a member of the Chicago Chapter of the Recording Academy and a voting member since 1992. She believes in Academy’s mission of fostering artistic and technical excellence, preserving historically significant musical works, and reaching young minds through the GRAMMY® Foundation. Kim is a proud mom of Austin, Morgan, and Bailey who enjoys yoga, writing children’s books, and cooking. She loves to spend time with her husband, Scott, and enjoys hanging out with her two dogs.
