About this ebook

Lady Adelaide is on her own…

In Edwardian Britain, Lady Adelaide Azalea Margaret de Morville, Mrs. Hugh Becket, continues her work for William Melville, spymaster. Adele accompanies King Edward and Queen Alexandra to Dublin where the King will attend the Irish International Exhibition. Events go awry even before they depart England, for the Irish Crown Jewels are stolen and King Edward takes the theft as a personal insult to the Crown.

Then the renown Irish MP, Eilish Slane, who is a personal friend of the King’s, is found murdered in a Dublin hotel. Adel attempts to investigate while navigating the shoals of the King’s temper, the actions of Irish Nationalists, the provocations of the British and Irish press, and the prejudices of men everywhere. And she must work alone, for Melville and his cohorts remain in England…

This novelette is the third in the Adelaide Becket Edwardian espionage series.

1: The Requisite Courage

2: The Rosewater Debutante

3: The Unaccompanied Widow

…and more to come.

A historical suspense espionage novelette.

Breathtaking start to a fantastic new series by Tracy Cooper-Posey.

Succinct and yet rich in the details that create historical immersion and scenes I found easy to imagine being a part.

Our heroine is progressing at her job as a spy, in leaps and bounds. She acts as any man in her position would, which is quite unheard of in the 1900's, for any woman. The authors brilliant view of this gun, knives, and secrets spy world is refreshing and splendidly candid through the eyes of a strong woman who doesn't take guff from anyone. I do believe we have the making here of a female Sherlock Holmes, deducing, clues around her with speed and accuracy. I can't wait to see what's around the proverbial corner, and I can definitely see these characters in a novel. I can see Adelaide stories as a series on Amazon, Netflix, or Hulu; read it and I know you'll agree with me.

And Adelaide Beckett does it again! The Unaccompanied Widow is the third book in the series and ensures another nail-biting adventure. Adelaide Beckett is in Ireland, accompanying the king in another spy mission. This time she gets involved with the murder investigation into the death of an Irish MP. Political issues and dangerous situations ensue and the author, with her usual cunning, delivers another great read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Compelling intrigue with resilient Adele at the helm! I was enthralled by the story and entranced by the likeable characters, whilst swept along in Adele's visit to Ireland. Historical details immersed me in the times by adding texture and flavour to the setting, behaviours and backdrop of the story. I thoroughly enjoyed being swept along on another of Adele's adventures with interesting new characters and of course the uncovering of plots and schemes that kept me guessing right through the story. Adelaide shared her emotions and reactions which engaged my interest and had me empathizing with her as a very real person in challenging situations. I'm looking forward to getting to know more about Adele and her fellow spy companions in the next installment of the series. I appreciate the brief recap at the start of the book but recommend that you start at book one of the series to fully enjoy getting to know Adele and her evolution as a spy.
