Volker Braun wurde 1939 in Dresden geboren. Er gilt als einer der wichtigsten lebenden Schriftsteller Deutschlands. Braun, der zahlreiche Preise erhielt, darunter den Georg-Büchner-Preis im Jahr 2000, lebt in Berlin.
