Das Buch widmet sich grundlegenden Fragen zu mathematischer Begabung mit Fokus auf Schülerinnen und Schüler der Sekundarstufen I und II. Der Begabungsbegriff wird perspektivenreich mit Bezug zum Fach Mathematik beleuchtet. Es werden praxiserprobte Konzepte zur Diagnostik mathematischer Begabung und zur Förderung mathematisch besonders begabter Schülerinnen und Schüler vorgestellt. Dabei steht insbesondere der reguläre, alltägliche Mathematikunterricht im Blickfeld. Er wird als primärer Ort für Begabungsförderung gesehen. Zudem werden Anregungen gegeben, wie an Schulen Mathematikunterricht systematisch hin zu bewusst begabungsförderndem Unterricht weiterentwickelt werden kann.
