About this ebook

The pension is earned, and it’s time to retire.

Time to leave the darkness behind and make bribery and corruption a part of the past.

No more trying like hell to keep his nose clean.

Detective Jake Thomas is done.

Or is he?

Moments before he walks out, his chief assigns him one last job.

Just a simple assignment to show his replacement the ropes.

But it’s never that easy.

When one of the city’s prosecutors is brutally killed, followed by the murder of a crooked cop, Jake and the rookie discover a new serial killer is on the rise.

It’s up to them to find the bastard before someone else ends up playing the Hangman’s deadly game.

And the evidence is stacking up—one letter at a time.

"The Silent Crime" by W.L. Knightly is an absolute masterclass in crime thrillers, deserving every single one of its five stars. From the very first page, Knightly grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go, dragging you through a labyrinth of intense, descriptive, and often gory details that paint a vivid, disturbing picture of the criminal underworld. The pacing is relentless, the tension palpable, and the twists keep coming, each one more shocking than the last. I found myself holding my breath more times than I can count, utterly immersed in the chilling investigation. Knightly's prose is sharp and unflinching, making you feel every punch, every scream, every sickening realization. This isn't for the faint of heart, but for those who crave a truly gritty and realistic portrayal of crime, it's a phenomenal read.

THE PLOT IS INTERESTING, BUT THE CHARACTERS ARE SO MUNDANE. THE THOUGHTS OF THE CHARACTERS SEEM AS THOUGH THEY WERE WRITTEN BY A PREPUBESCENT BOY. WITHOUT BACKGROUND I CAN TELL THE AUTHOR IS FEMALE AND WRITING WHAT THEY THINK MEN THINK. THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK I HAVE READ BY WL KNIGHTLY, LUCKILY THE BOOK WAS FREE. I MAY READ ANOTHER IF OFFERED FOR FREE, JUST TO SEE IF CHARACTER DEVELOPEMENT HAS IMPROVED. AND I ALSO WONDER IF THE AUTHOR HAS EVER MET ANYONE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT. TO ME IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THEY CAME UP WITH THE PLOT AND FILLED IT WITH EVERY CLICHE LAW ENFORCEMENT THEY HAD EVER HEARD. KIND OF DISAPPOINTING, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SUCH A GREAT READ IF THEY HAD ACTUALLY PUT MORE THOUGHT INTO IT.

i dont understand why some think this is a bad book. despite some typos (which to my eyes not many and didnt really bother me much) it's a short, gripping story that you can finish at least 2 days. i love the characters development especially when it comes to jo and jake. the writer managed to make wonder what's happening to their circle. i really wish the writer just finish off the book instead of ending it with a cliff hanger. let it be a 400-pages book, i'll finish it
