Am Beispiel des Oratoriums Samuele des deutsch-italienischen Komponisten Giovanni Simone Mayr (1763-1845) wird dann die frühneuzeitliche und moderne Rezeption der alttestamentlichen Gestalt des Richters Samuel in der europäischen Kulturgeschichte demonstriert.
