Willibald Alexis publizierte seinen Roman "Der falsche Woldemar" 1842. Der falsche Woldemar († 1356 in Dessau, Anhalt) war ein Hochstapler, der von 1348 bis 1350 von Karl IV. der Lehnsherr der Mark Brandenburg war. Woldemar hieß angeblich Jakob Rehbock und soll ein Müller Geselle gewesen sein. Seine wahre Identität ist bis heute ungeklärt. Im Sommer 1348 stellte er sich als älterer Pilger dem Erzbischof von Magdeburg Otto als der alte brandenburgische Markgraf Woldemar vor, den man 29 Jahre zuvor bestattet hatte. Er gab vor, die Bestattung von 1319 sei nur inszeniert gewesen, und er habe sich in der Zwischenzeit auf einer Pilgerfahrt ins Heilige Land befunden. Der falsche Woldemar wurde im Februar 1350 als Betrüger entlarvt.
