Er ist sehr erfolgreich und kann seine Objekte auch im öffentlichen Raum ausstellen. Bald ist er Professor an der Hochschule für Kunst in Karlsruhe. Eines Tages verschwindet Hugo Uttentaler auf ungeklärte Weise. Er wollte nach Paris reisen, ist dort aber nie angekommen.
