Die Beiträge des XXVII. Romanistischen Kolloquiums befassen sich mit der aktuellen Situation einer ganzen Reihe von romanischen Kleinsprachen. Im ersten Teil werden romanische Idiome in Europa vom Balkan bis zur Iberischen Halbinsel betrachtet, im zweiten Teil steht die außereuropäische Romania (vertreten vor allem durch Kreolsprachen) im Mittelpunkt. Thematisiert werden dabei sowohl system- wie auch soziolinguistische Phänomene, insbesondere Versuche der Kodifizierung und Normierung dieser Kleinidiome. Für einige von ihnen ist ein Vergleich mit den Beschreibungen in dem vor mehr als 20 Jahren erschienenen Band des V. Romanistischen Kolloquium (TBL 348) möglich.
