Tiles are the simplest form of ceramics, they are all around us, they are used in
mosques, churches, houses, etc. They are often combined with other forms of
ceramics such as mosaic, faïence, and terra cotta.
The earliest known examples of tiles are found in Egypt. Through history tiles were
made by Babylonians, Assyrians and Islamic empire, early tiles can be seen in many
middle-eastern mosques.
The earliest tiles in Western Europe were found in England and Holland. Some of
the most spectacular ceramics are in the great mosque in Cordoba and at the
Alhambra palace in Granada Spain.
This vibrant and exciting patterns designs drawn by designer Fares Khalid Selmane
are rich source of inspiration and can add magic and exotic touch to this art form.
