William a 500 yr old master vampire who rules the area of Savannah, Georgia Jack is his fledgling, from the Civil War. This book begins just after the last book ends with Eleanor, being turned into a vampire. Jack , well Jack loves a human? that lights his fire in more ways than one.Reedrek, Williams maker is trapped and now the Old World vampires are expected. A call for the American vamps brings several to Savannah to try to fight these Old World Evil ones. A rotting disease unknown before now how them scrambling for a cure, but vamps have never been sick before, and who caused it ?The voodoo blood brings much to the clan of Savannah and brings a horrible danger to one of the much loved family members.I love the different points of view in this series and how the story just takes off where the last one ended , no rehashing of events. I am off to read The Vampires Kiss, book 3
