वामन अवतार द्वारा राजा महाबली के निर्वासन एवं प्रभु श्रीराम द्वारा रावण के वध के उपरान्त, असुरों का वर्चस्व मानवों पर लगभग समाप्त हो गया। परन्तु ये रक्षों के गुरु भैरवनाथ को स्वीकार नहीं था। जब उन्होंने देखा कि राजा बलि के एक सामथ्र्यवान वंशज ने असुरों का सिंहासन सँभाला है, तो उसने एक ऐसा षड्यंत्र रचा, जिससे राजा बलि का वो वंशज ‘मार्केश’ समग्र मानवजाति के विरुद्ध हो गया। इस संकट को जड़ से उखाड़ फेंकने के लिये नियति ने चार महारथियों ‘तेजस्वी', ‘नागराज युगांधर', ‘महाबली अखण्ड' और ‘सूर्यम्' को चुना। प्रतिशोध की अग्नि मार्केश और तेजस्वी दोनों के भीतर थी। मार्केश को प्रतिशोध लेना था अपनी पत्नी की मृत्यु का, वहीं तेजस्वी के धनुष से चलने वाला प्रत्येक बाण उसके परिवारजनों की मृत्यु के प्रतिकार के लिये मार्केश का शीश काटने को तत्पर था। और इन प्रतिशोध की ज्वालाओं ने ही मानवों, असुरों और नागों के मध्य पाँच दिन तक चले महासंग्राम की नींव रखी।
About the author
Right from childhood days, Utkarsh Srivastava was fond of drawing sketches of mythological heroes of Ramayana as well as Mahabharata. After he had gone through the in-depth meaning of these epics, he started writing from his school days, and within a year, he wrote two novels in his diaries and titled it as Mahayudh, but it was not published. After four years, he rewrote it, enhancing the previous story, and as a result, he came up with the series Rankshetram.
