About the author

Charles Odwin, BS, RT, RDMS, is the former president of the New York State Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. A recipient of the Publishing Excellence Award from the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, he teaches ultrasound to emergency department physicians and in ultrasound schools. He is also an artist whose illustrations appear ultrasound test books.

Arthur C. Fleischer, MD, is professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
