Jacquot Ohnohr war Diener beim Fürsten Alexis, zuerst Hundeaufseher und dann Stallknecht. Als er mit einem Bären rang, biss dieser ihm sein rechtes Ohr ab. Er töte den Bären. Da er das aber ohne Erlaubnis des Fürsten tat, ließ dieser ihm das linke Ohr abschneiden und seitdem war er Jacquot Ohnohr. Dieser erzählt nun Geschichten von Bojaren, vielleicht des letzten Repräsentanten der alten moskowitischen Sitten aus der Zeit Peter des Großen. Geister und grausige Mordtaten gehören zum Repertoire und alles genussvoll verarbeitet von Alexandre Dumas.
About the author
Né en 1802, Alexandre Dumas est l'un des auteurs français les plus populaires aujourd'hui encore, en témoigne l'enthousiasme suscité par le transfert de ses cendres au Panthéon en novembre 2002. Homme politique, il ne cessa de faire montre de son engagement révolutionnaire et républicain. Installé près de Dieppe, il y meurt en 1872. Il laisse six cent quarante-six ouvrages et demeure l'écrivain le plus lu de son époque, auquel Victor Hugo rend hommage en soulignant son universalité et le qualifiant de « semeur de civilisation ».
