About the author
Conrad Ferdinand Meyer (1825-1898) war ein Schweizer Schriftsteller und Dichter, der dem Realismus zugeordnet wird. Sein erster Gedichtband wurde 1864 veröffentlicht, jedoch wurde er erst 1872 mit seinem Gedichtzyklus "Huttens letzte Tage" erfolgreich. Seine bekanntesten Werke sind seine historischen Romane und Novellen "Die Hochzeit des Mönchs", "Die Richterin" und "Die Versuchung des Pescara".
