Der Band schließt die Abteilung "Schriften und Entwürfe" der Kritischen Gesamtausgabe ab. Er enthält eine Vielzahl kleinerer Drucktexte aus allen Phasen von Schleiermachers literarischer Wirksamkeit. Umfassend wird auch seine Tätigkeit für die politische Tageszeitung "Der Preußische Correspondent" aus dem Jahre 1813 dokumentiert. Ein dritter Komplex umfasst Texte aus dem Nachlass, vor allem Studien zu antiken griechischen Philosophen. Im Anhang wird eine kritische Edition der Vorträge "Über den Stil" geboten.
