Sy woon op Kroonstad in die Vrystaat waar sy by ’n plaaslike laerskool in die dorp werk. Sy is getroud en het drie kinders – twee getroude dogters en ’n seun wat studeer. Haar hart se punt behoort aan haar vier kleinkinders wat haar lewe verryk. Twee van haar liefdesverhale – Ondersoek my hart en Hart se tweede kans het al by NB Liefdesverhale onder die Hartklop-druknaam verskyn. Sy het ook kinderboeke, kortverhale en gedigte vir laer- en hoërskoolkinders op haar kerfstok. Liefde tussen die duine is Ilze se eerste romanse in die Romanza-reeks.
