About this ebook

Anne de Bourgh is dead, and Lady Catherine devises her most audacious scheme yet.

Welcome to the Summer Selection—a glittering, ruthless competition where eight eligible women battle for the ultimate prize: Fitzwilliam Darcy and his magnificent estate. Through sunlit archery tournaments, heart-stopping carriage races, and champagne-soaked garden parties, only one woman will emerge victorious.

Elizabeth Bennet wants absolutely nothing to do with it.

Relegated to scorekeeper rather than contestant, Elizabeth watches her sisters, her friends, and two noblewomen navigate the treacherous waters of Lady Catherine’s creation. She records every triumph, every misstep, and every calculated smile with unflinching precision. All the while telling herself she’s immune to Mr. Darcy’s brooding intensity and unexpected flashes of kindness.

She’s lying to herself.

Between moonlit conversations and whispered strategies, Elizabeth finds herself drawn to a man whose dark eyes follow her with disconcerting focus. When the final ball approaches and Lady Catherine demands her scorecard, Elizabeth faces an impossible choice—recommending her sister Jane for a loveless marriage based on duty or forfeiting her own heart in a risky game of chicken.

In a Hunger Games meets the Bachelor remake set in Austen’s beloved world, the ultimate victory may belong to the one woman who refused to play—or the man who never wanted to be won.

Catching Mr. Darcy is one of Ms. Ayala's longer P&P variations. I find that I enjoy these longer version even more than the shorter ones. In this very interesting variation, several damsels will compete in archery, phaeton racing, an afternoon with the farmer's children, planning a ball and more. Lady Catherine is determined to see Mr. Darcy wed - preferably to her choice, the horrid Lady Helen. Lizzie and Mr. Darcy are the score keepers which necessitates a lot of collaboration. Lizzie refuses to acknowledge her feelings as Mr. Darcy attempts to gain her favor. The competitions, of course, do not go as Lady Catherine planned. This is a very clever variation on a timeless tale. You will want to read this well written book to see how Ms. Ayala is able to bring things to the expected outcome.
