For a number of years, modular construction – the use of prefabricated elements in architecture – has once again become a subject of lively discussion and debate. Long written off as monotonous, today’s building components are actually highly differentiated and capable of supporting and enhancing the architect’s creativity. About the author
Sharon Chung-Klatte, Architekturstudium Cornell University und an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf; Tätigkeit in verschiedenen Architekturbüros, u.a. bei Ungers sowie Ingenhoven; Lehrtätigkeit an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, FH Detmold, Akademie van Bouwkunst Maastricht;
Reinhard Hasselbach, Studium an der RWTH Aachen, Architekt in Berlin und in Delft, entwickelt derzeit ein Hochbausystem aus niederländischen Komponenten für den deutschen Markt.
Ulrich Knaack war Architekt in Düsseldorf und ist heute Professor für Konstruktion und Entwurf an der TU Delft sowie der Fachhochschule Detmold. Autor der bekannten Fachbücher "Konstruktiver Glasbau Bd. 1 und 2" sowie Herausgeber der Birkhäuser-Reihe „Prinzipien der Konstruktion".
