i find that this book was one of the best i have read in the series as it returns us to Qurilixen . The author returned to the old good and stable planet and now the Dragons and the cats are not fighting against one another anymore. Medieval with fun elements and sexy time this story really camptivated me. Action packed and fast paced it reminded me of the first books in the serie that made me fall in love with it. A great work of the author and great characters

The Federation is still causing problems for the Draig/Var people and oppressing the Cysgodians. The Cysgodians may have now largely recovered from the virus that almost killed them off but now they are under the yoke of the Federation, being staved almost to extinction and neglected. The Draig and Var are horrified by what is going on but are diplomatically hobbled from interfering. But diplomacy be damned, these young royals are getting involved anyway! Roderic stumbles across Justine, who is trying to get Fiora out of shelter City before she is found. But her mate is still within the city somewhere, Roderic will not rest until Jaxx is found. Justina returns home to find her friend has found Jaxx and is sheltering him within his hovel next door. Justina goes to extreme measures to gain the attention of the security bots to save her friend and their "guest". Justina is soon involved in the mysterious doping that the Federation seems to be forcing the population into. But Roderic isn't about to let the life-debt he owes Justina go to waste! Well-paced, brilliant chemistry between the lead characters and a solid lineup of secondary characters. I loved the way the author handled Starrs and his TBI, he is handled with so much skill when the easy route would be to make him a comedic figure. General Sten really is evil incarnate!

From Rags to Riches? Prince Roderick has always been more comfortable in the forest than the palace. When he wakes up from sleeping there he smells blood. He follows the scent and finds a cysgodian woman trying to wake up princess Fiona. Roderick approaches and wants to know what happen. She begs him to take her and runs off. Roderick carries Fiona part way back but when she wakes up she insists the have to go back to Shelter City because her mate Prince Jaxx is still there and hurt. Roderick is torn because shifters aren’t supposed to be there. It is controlled by the Federation. But return they do, find Jaxx and get him out of the city. Roderick is horrified by the conditions the people are living in. When Roderick finds out Justina was taken by the federation when she distracted them to save Jaxx, he goes back to save her but she has just been released and given a vial of liquid to add to the rations given to the cysgodions. Roderick is very suspicious and talks her into going to the palace for medical treatment and to see what the vial contains. She reluctantly agrees. As Roderick and Justina spend time together they become very close, but Justina thinks she must sacrifice herself to try and save her people. Can Roderick convince her to stay with him as his mate? And what evil thing is that Federation up to? Another great Qurilixian book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
