Es ist eine philosophische Lehre, bekannt als Bialetheism, mit, anscheinend viele Anhänger in Australien, die der Meinung sind, dass es echte Widersprüche geben kann. Ich möchte nicht diese Ansicht verteidigen, aber dennoch werde ich in dieser Schrift mich damit auseinandersetzen mit der These, dass Mathematik sowohl eine Philosophie benötigt ,als auch wiederum keine Philosophie braucht. Natürlich kann der scheinbare Widerspruch in einem Fall langweilig konventionelle Weise gelöst werden: die Anweisung "Mathematik braucht Philosophie" hat mindestens zwei angemessene Interpretationen, und meine Behauptung ist, dass einer von ihnen falsch ist und ein anderes stimmt. Aber bevor ich Ihnen sagen, was diese Interpretationen sind, möchte ich etwas sagen, was ich erhoffe, dass ich mit dieser Schrift erreiche.
