About the author

Edgar Rice Burroughs was an American novelist, best known for his science fiction and adventure stories. He is best known for his series of books about the character Tarzan. Burroughs was born in 1875 and was educated at the Michigan Military Academy. He began writing fiction in his twenties and his first novel, A Princess of Mars, was published in 1912. He wrote dozens of novels during his lifetime, as well as numerous short stories and essays. Burroughs was a celebrated literary figure of his era, and was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 1970. He died in 1950.
