About this ebook

Recommended in John Green’s Book Giving Guide: A novel of friendships, crushes, and romance that “captures the exhilaration and agony of being a teen” (School Library Journal).

Devon Tennyson wouldn’t change a thing. She’s happy silently crushing on her best friend and blissfully ignoring the future after high school. But the universe has other plans. It delivers Devon’s cousin Foster, an unrepentant social outlier with a surprising talent, and the obnoxiously superior and maddeningly attractive football player, Ezra, right where she doesn’t want them—first into her P.E. class, and then into every other aspect of her life . . .

With wit, heart, and humor to spare, First & Then is a contemporary novel about falling in love—with the unexpected boy, with a new brother, and with yourself.

“A fresh, smart, inventive, and altogether impressive debut.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

I thought that such an ordinary story would have me running for the hills, instead I read it in two days. I still can't belive she made a character watching football seem interesting and keep me invested in the turn out! Can't wait to read her next book coming out in October.

I absolutely love realistic fiction, and Emma Mills has made me love it even more. I also adore Jane Austen novels, and this was a retelling of one of my favorite.
