Die Einführung und das Zusammenleben in einem demokratischen Gemeinwesen erfordern politische Bildung, unter Förderung politischen Grundwissens, politischer Urteils- und Handlungsfähigkeit. In Gegenwart und Zukunft besteht ein dringlicher Bedarf an theoretischer Inbeziehungsetzung von Politikwissenschaft und Politikdidaktik. Empirische Forschung in beiden Bereichen ist aufeinander angewiesen. Ohne politikwissenschaftliche Theorien kann es keine politikdidaktische Theorie geben. Die wechselseitigen Bezüge sind neu zu klären. Dabei bedarf die Eigenständigkeit beider Disziplinen einer zeitgemäßen Klärung und Neuausrichtung.
