About this ebook

There is a burgeoning interest in natural medicines in the United States. Among these natural health powerhouses are mushrooms, and here mycologist Greg Marley introduces ten species found in New England-and elsewhere, too, in many cases. Marley describes where to find and how to prepare these fungi and lists their health-supporting benefits. On a comforting note, Marley says there are no poisonous look-alikes for any of these beneficial fungi!

This is really good book. It separates what has some proven science behind it and what doesn't. Most mushrooms have been subjected to double blind studies on people. Most have just been tested on a cell line in a lab environment. This is just an indicator, it does prove it will do anything when consumed or used by people. He goes through mushrooms and tells you what they believe to be the active compounds involved in say, fighting cancer. People pay a lot of many very expensive mushroom supplements when there is no proof they work and the very small amount of mushrooms actually contained in the pills. I suggest this book to anyone considering to use mushroom for a health purpose.
