Alexandra Allred

Alexandra Allred began her martial arts career in 1983, studying under Master Jhoon Rhee, Ernie Reyes, and some of the top martial artists in the nation, including Master Jim Choate, with whom Allred was honored with a 4th Degree Black Belt. Master Choate was one of the first martial artists responsible for demanding proper safety gear for fighters in the ring and helped change the course of history in tournament fighting.Briefly, she stepped away from the martial arts world to try bobsledding, becoming the first champion named to the first-ever U.S. women's bobsledteam in 1994. Allred won U.S. Nationals, was named Athlete of the Year by the United States Olympic Committee for her sport and was alsopregnant. Following her work with renowned researcher of reproductive biology at Case Western Reserve University, Dr. James Clapp III., Allred'sdata was used by the United States and International Olympic Committees in regards to athlete and safety performance for pregnantathletes. Allred later became a "pregnancy expert" with a number of national publications and websites.Allred is the author of dozens on books on wellness, fitness, and sports, as well as fiction. She was nominated for the White House Champion ofChange for Public Health in 2007; continues to lecture on public health, environmental issues, and fitness on a national forum; and is a newchampion for special needs with 13 Able. Today, she is an adjunct professor with Navarro College and Tarleton State University, teachingkinesiology, leadership, special populations, and sports nutrition.She lives with her husband, children, granddaughter, and wonderous animals in Texas.
