Ahilyabai was born in 1725. Her father was the Patil (headman) of Chaunri (Choli) village. His name was Mankoji Shinde. Ahilyabai had been sharp-witted since her childhood. She was quite interested in studies. Therefore; she quickly learnt the lessons in ethics; religion; politics; etc.
Ahilyabai was devoted to religion. She had tremendous faith in God. She loved to help the poor. She attained the greatest satisfaction by serving them.
