Barbro Klein is Director and Permanent Fellow at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study in the Social Sciences (SCASSS) in Uppsala and recently retired from her position as Professor of Ethnology at Stockholm University. She has worked extensively on oral narration, ritual, material culture, and conceptualizations of heritage in multi-ethnic settings in the United States and northern Europe and has also devoted several studies to methodological and theoretical issues in ethnology and folkloristics.Among her books are Legends and Folk Beliefs in a Swedish American Community: A Study in Folklore and Acculturation (1980); Swedish Folk Art (edited with Mats Widbom, 1994); Från erfarenhet till text: om kulturvetenskaplig reflexivitet (From experience to text: on reflexivity in cultural studies, with Billy Ehn 1994).
