Bruce Sandison and his wife, Ann, live in a croft cottage overlooking the Kyle of Tongue in North Sutherland. He is recognised as being one of Scotland's most determined defenders of the environmental integrity of his native land. Over the past thirty years he has engaged in campaigns to protet the environment from the unwelcome activities of the mass-afforestation of the Flow Country of Caithness and East Sutherland, industrial-scale peat extraction, super quarries, wind farms and inappropriately sited factory fish farms. His love of Scotland and for its wild places has been the driving force behind his writing, and this shines through on the pages of all of his books.
