Manfred von Richthofen

Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen (1892–1918), known as the Red Baron, was Germany’s most successful fighter ace during World War I, credited with over 80 aerial victories. Born into an aristocratic family, Richthofen initially served as a cavalry officer before transitioning to the German Air Service. His skill in aerial combat, combined with his striking red Fokker triplane, made him a legendary figure in military history. Despite his prowess as a fighter pilot, Richthofen maintained a sense of chivalry and respect for his opponents. He was ultimately killed in action in 1918, but his legacy as a pioneer of aerial warfare endures through his autobiography and numerous historical accounts of his life and career.
