Chris Coursey has spent the last twenty years studying and practicing relational skills, as well as developing exercises designed to build relational skills in order to grow joyful communities. Since the year 2000, he and his wife Jen have led THRIVE Training events in which participants spend five days practicing the interactive exercises developed by Chris, Jen, and Dr. Jim Wilder. The THRIVE Trainings have three skill levels, and hundreds of Christians have completed all three levels. Chris and Jen lead weekend marriage events as well as skill training events for communities to practice the 19 skills that make relationships work.Chris writes skill thoughts and blogs at thrivetoday.org as well as online skill courses and THRIVE Skill Guides for each level of training, a book on relational skill exercises for married couples, as well as Transforming Fellowship: 19 Brain Skills that Build Joyful Community, along with the coauthored book Joy Starts Here. Chris actively speaks, trains, and guides groups to apply the 19 relational skills to churches, parenting, marriage, counseling, recovery, discipleship, and complex problems.
